Xintai city, the hinterland of Tai'an and Linyi, is in the middle of East China's Shandong province. It lies to the south of Mount Tai, to the north of Qufu, the hometown of Confucious and adjoins the coastal cities of East Shandong province.

There are numerous resources in Xintai. The reserves of coal proved-up presently are 1.6 billion tons.
