Culai Mount, which covers 250,000 mu and?20 miles to the south of Mount Tai, boasts one of the biggest forest parks in Shandong province.

Known as "South Mount Tai", beautiful Culai Mount is a forest park on a national level, an AAA tourist resort and the provenance for "Shi Gandang in Mount Tai" (Shi was a famous doctor in ancient times who performed exorcisms mainly in mountainous areas).

Culai Mount Ski Resort is located in Qiaogou village, Culai County, on Culai mountain range. The 100,000 sq m ski resort offers all kinds of snow after receiving an investment of 100 million yuan ($14.46 million).

The first construction phase saw many facilities built, including four primary, medium and advanced ski trails, one 1,000 sq m ski equipment hall, one alpine cable car, three pulling cable cars, snowmaking machines and snow-pressing machines. The ski trail is 120 meters wide and 800 meters long with the highest slope at an angle of 30 degrees.

Snowboarding, horse-drawn sledges and a dedicated ski playground for children are also available.

A huge number of visitors has been attracted from Laiwu, Xuzhou and Jinan since its opening on December 29, 2008.

Thanks to the successful operation of the first phase in Culai Ski Resort, the second phase is due to be started soon and will boast even more skiing facilities.

The resort has a spa holiday hotel with pure, natural sulfur springs from Qiaogou village, the mineral content of which is ranked the third best in China. The clean, soft spring water may reach as much as 60 degrees Celsius and contains sulfur, chlorinum, sodium, calcium, magnesium, iron, radon and other minerals, helping you keep in good health in a natural and ecological manner.

The resort has become a famous tourist destination in Shandong province, featuring eco-leisure, natural springs, and fashionable skiing.

Transportation Guidance

Culai Mount is located 20 miles southeast of Mount Tai and 40 miles west of Xintai county, crossing Fangcun village, Liangzhuang county, Culai, Huamawan in Tai'an's suburbs as well as Tianbao county and Dadongzhuang county in Xintai. It covers total 250 sq km. The main peak – Taiping Peak – is1,027 meters above sea level and 30 miles as the crow flies from Jade Emperor Peak on Mount Tai. The pine-covered Culai Mount is also known as Longlai Mount.

3. Transportation route from Tai'an to Culai Mount: Go through Liangzhuang county and get on the bus at Old Bus Station or Sihai Department Store.

4. Restaurants in surrounding area (within two miles): Huibin Restaurant, Xinrui Dumpling Restaurant, Saili Juicy Steamed Buns Restaurant in Jiuxian County.
