When the imported cargo of a Beijing enterprise arrives at Tianjin Port, it can complete customs clearance in Beijing locally instead of in Tianjin thanks to the regional integrated clearance system, which began implementation half a year ago.
After finishing the customs procedures in Beijing customs, the cargo will be carried back from Tianjin Port directly every month, according to Guo Liansheng, a representative from SMC China, a Beijing-based pneumatic components maker.
Before last July, it took time to handle the procedures in both Tianjin and Beijing, Guo added.
With the integrated customs clearance system in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei area, cargo from Beijing enterprises will spend fewer days to carry out procedures and see lower expenses on transportation between the capital city and the port city.
It saves three days on clearance and 30 percent on transportation costs, according to Beijing’s customs authority.
The data showed Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei received 2.34 million customs declarations in the latter half of 2014.
Among these, Beijing received 868,900 and Tianjin 1.44 million, while Shijiazhuang customs received 31,100 declarations. Beijing enterprises applied for 642,000 customs declarations, accounting for 27.5 percent of the region’s total.
According to the authority, the average time of the region’s customs clearance in the last quarter of 2014 was 24.87 hours, 5.13 hours shorter than that of 2013.
