2 dead, 8 missing in pair of shipwrecks

Two sailors died and eight were missing on Sunday after two separate shipwrecks. Rescuers were searching for six sailors from a fishing boat that sank in waters off Zhejiang province, according to the local maritime authority. The vessel, with 11 people aboard, sank around 5 am near Shulanghu Island, which is administered by Zhoushan city, according to the city's maritime safety administration. Five people were rescued. In waters off Zhangzhou, Fujian province, another vessel sank in the early hours of Sunday after hitting a rock. Two sailors died, and two others remained unaccounted for. Air rescuers were searching for the two missing people.

China leads Asia in going digital

Chinese companies have outperformed their Asian counterparts in digital transformation, according to a report by a leading software developer. About 91 percent of Chinese mainland respondents use software development strategy DevOps and about 88 percent use Agile, two of the most popular tools for helping companies upgrade their IT infrastructure. In other Asian countries, the average figures were 88 percent and 86 percent respectively, according to a report by CA Technologies.

GMAT launches Chinese sign-up

The Graduate Management Admission Council announced on Saturday the launch of a Chinese registration system for its global Graduate Management Admissions Test, making Chinese the sole language used in registration other than English. The Chinese system can help save time and prevent mistakes during the registration process. GMAT's move accommodates a rising number of Chinese test takers and the increasing importance of the Chinese market in international business management education.

Hunan

Province reports two H7N9 deaths

Central China's Hunan province recorded five human infections of H7N9 bird flu in the past week, including two deaths, local health authorities said on Friday. Live poultry trading will cease for three weeks in Changsha, the provincial capital, over concerns about the virus. All poultry markets have been ordered to be cleaned and disinfected. A total of 24 infections and five fatalities were reported in the province last month. According to the National Health and Family Planning Commission, 79 people died nationwide in January from the virus.
