A schoolboy in Wuhan, Hubei province, who uses "Daodao" as his online name, recently exhibited his Lamborghini and Ferrari sports cars and luxury handbags on Tencent microblogs. After the incident, the middle school he studies in is reportedly investigating the case, says an article in Qianjiang Evening News. Excerpts:

It is possible that "Daodao" used photographs from other sources to show how wealthy his family was, but people are still startled with his postings that show how even a minor can be obsessed with wealth and think that "common people are inferior to pet dogs that have there own Hermes bags".

The younger generation is more likely to fall prey to the lure of wealth now that China has become the top choice of most luxury brands, which have seen their sales increase by geometric proportions in the country and made consumption a status symbol for some nouveaux riches.

It is natural for children born in rich families to smoke expensive cigarettes, consume high-end liquor and indulge in gambling, even though it is illegal.

The rising trend of exhibiting wealth reveals the spiritual and mental poverty of the rich, who violate all norms of social equality. But once discipline inspection departments find evidence of corruption against their parents, youths like "Daodao" will become mentally and materially disabled.
