I live in the US and when planning my wedding date nothing was acceptable to her, not even any of the dates I picked (based on the Lunar Calendar). Nothing makes my mother-in-law happy. Not only am I not Chinese, I'm not Buddhist, and my skin is darker than what is acceptable for their culture. My husband refuses to acknowledge her treatment of me.
