I think the kids, even if they are the center of attention in a family, need to have some time alone to learn the realities of life. I wouldn't be cool with my mum attending my swimming lessons gasping as if I am drowning as an able instructor lets go of me as he ably teaches me to float. Of course the idea of my mum carrying my school books and mini-chair to school and watching out for me seems cool, but as a boy, I would need some me time. Not a drone of a guardian angel.

What surprised you the most in China?	Should Chinese care about "face"?	Laowai, is the term offensive?
