Zunyi is an important revolutionary site because it witnessed the toughest time and most dangerous experiences during the Red Army’s Long March, from the critical Zunyi Conference to the encouraging victory in Loushan Pass and to the breathtaking and ingenious four times’ passage of the Chishui River. Though decades have passed since then, stories about the revolutionary history are still engraved in this land.

1. The site of the Zunyi Conference

Built in the early 1930s, it was originally the private mansion of Bo Zhanghui, commander of the second division of the 25th corps of the armies in Guizhou Province. The whole mansion was divided into the main building and lateral court in a European architectural style and it was also the most magnificent building in Zunyi in the 1930s. In early January 1935 when the Red Amy arrived here during the Long March, it became the station of the General Headquarters of the Red Army. And the famous Zunyi Conference was held in the small living room of the main building from Jan 15 to 17.
