Household expenses and financial responsibility should be shared - this is what adults do.

Neither husband or wife should have sole control over finances as this can cause disputes and financial decisions affect both parties in the marriage. One or other having sole responsibility leaves things open to abuse, especially if the one with control has a gambling problem, is addicted to online shopping or tries to hide a secret relationship. Adults share all responsibilities in an equal relationship, which marriage is supposed to be.
