Leading outsouring enterprises are honored at the Nanjing forum.

 Economic transition and modern service industry development

High-profile event attracts senior government officials and company representatives.

The fourth conference on International Service Outsourcing Cooperation has just concluded in Nanjing.

Organizers of the conference, which ended on June 10, were the Jiangsu provincial government, Nanjing city government and Nanjing Commerce Bureau.

It had 24 different activities and attracted representatives of more than 700 companies in the US, Japan, Canada, UK, France, South Korea, the Netherlands, and elsewhere.

The conference is the largest, most important event in outsourcing service industry in China, and resulted in $67-million worth of deals in outsourcing, investments, and overseas market development.

Another result of the meeting was the publishing of lists of the top 10 Chinese outsourcing service companies, top 10 foreign-invested outsourcing service enterprises, and the 100 fastest growing enterprises. The fields they cover are medicine, software and telecommunications.

And there was a prize for the most notable person in the industry.

One part of the meeting, the 50 Chinese Economists Forum, was held on June 10, centering on a theme of China's economic transition and developing a modern service industry under the 12th Five-Year Plan period (2011-2015).

This was a highlight of the conference and attracted well known economists and entrepreneurs, such as: Zhen Xinli, permanent vice-chairman of the China Center for International Economic Exchanges; Xu Shanda, a member of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference's Economic Affairs Committee; Cai Fang, director of the the Chinese Social Sciences Academy's Population and Labor Economics Institute; Wang Jian, executive secretary-general of the China Society of Macroeconomics; and Duan Yongji, chairman of Stone Group Holdings Limited.

Noted outsourcing service companies present at the conference were Accenture, Microsoft, IBM, Gartner, PricewaterhouseCoopers, Capgemini ,and Genpact.

In addition, Wang Chao, an assistant minister of commerce, and Zhu Xiaoming, director of international service outsourcing during China's 12th five-year plan, delivered a 2011 China Service Outsourcing Development Report.

Representatives from Microsoft, IBM and Gartner spoke about guidelines for developing overseas markets and increasing service outsourcing abilities.

In addition, senior managers at Pfizer, the world's largest research-based pharmaceutical company, and Eli Lilly, a global pharmaceutical company, took part in a matchmaking session for the medical profession.

There were also matchmaking sessions for financial institutions and staff training institutions to help service outsourcing companies in need of help in their staff training.

And several contracts of intention were signed during the matchmaking meetings.
