Intangible cultural heritage show held in Sichuan

The first photo exhibition of intangible cultural heritage in the ethnic minority areas in Sichuan province is being held in the provincial capital Chengdu.
Sponsored by the Sichuan Provincial Intangible Culture Heritage Protection Center and Sichuan Society of National Culture and Art, the 10-day show which ends on Jan 4 displays more than 170 photos by over 30 photographers and amateur photographers. They have a vivid depiction of the intangible cultural heritage of the Tibetan, Yi, Qiang, Naxi, Lisu and Tujia people in Sichuan.
The show, which is being held in the city's Kuai Alley, a lane built in the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911), has been held in the Southwest University for Nationalities, Chengdu University of Information Technology and Aba Teachers College in Sichuan to promote intangible cultural heritage in the province's ethnic minority areas, according to show organizer Huang Mei.
Sichuan is home to more than 4.8 million ethnic minority people whose habitats account for nearly 63 percent of its land.
