Located at northeast in Tianjin Port, Tianjin Port East Port in construction is a man-made peninsula area on shallow ocean mudflat and there are three directions embraced by ocean. Covering total area about 30 square kilometers, the port area is divided into three zones of terminal operation zone, logistics and processing zone and comprehensive service zone. And“five major functions” of container terminal load-and-unload, container logistic processing, business & trade, living residence and traveling & relaxation will be realized in the area.
The terminal operation zone locates at the west side of the area, the 7km long deepwater container quay waterfront can operate the most advanced container ships in the world around the clock. Located at middle part of the port area and by taking the advantage of being close to port, logistics processing zone can offer convenient, rapid and overall logistic service to Chinese and foreign logistic enterprises. The comprehensive service zone lies in the east of the port area and includes the sections respectively for residence, commerce & business, traveling & relaxation and cruise terminal. It can provide office, living, business, relaxation and other service to the employees of Tianjin Port East and the people who come here for business
Now the total 30 square kilometers land of East Port had been reclaimed, the infrastructure construction is almost completed, the largest international cruise home port in Asia, the largest artificial beach scenery in China and the largest international commodity exhibition center in northern China have been put into use. The projects of Five-star hotel, yacht leisure center and financial trade center in the eastern comprehensive service zone are accelerating the construction and will be completed soon.
In order to promote the further opening up of Tianjin Binhai New Area, Tianjin East Free Trade Port Area was approved by State Council on 31 August, 2006. The total area of Tianjin East Free Trade Port Area is 10km2, the first phase of 4 square kilometers was completed in 2007, and the whole area was completed in August 2012. 6 container berths with 2300m quay length, logistics processing zone with 58 warehouses and 600,000 square meters storage yards, customs supervision and port office facilities was put into operation. 9 million twenty equivalent units (TEU) of containers have been transported, and about 1000 companies have established business here. The businesses of shipping, logistics, leasing and trade settlement are gathering to the East Port. The advantage in the industries of red wine, automobile and cold chain are appearing to attract high level projects such as COSCOBULK, Chinacoal, Datang Leasing, COFCO, Goldin Red Wine, Mercedes-Benz VPC and Dayang reefer to be developed here. A sound development trend of gathering shipping logistics factors, high end industries and international companies is formed.
According to “The construction plan of core function zone of Tianjin northern international shipping center” approved by State Council, as the core function area of northern international shipping center and comprehensive innovation platform, Tianjin East Free Trade Port Area was required by the document to “promote the test of ship registration policy, international shipping taxing, off-shore finance and leasing business, actively explore the construction of free trade port with Chinese characteristics. Take five to ten years to complete the function of international transit, international distribution, international purchase, international trade, shipping financing, shipping trade, shipping leasing and off-shore financing. It will be constructed to be the northern international shipping center and core function zone of international logistic center with kinds of shipping elements, strong service radiation and participate in the global resource allocation, as well as the international shipping financing center with full function.
In the principle of “government guidance, enterprise operation and diversified investment”, Tianjin Port (Group) Co, Ltd., as the main body to construct, develop and operate the East Port, is observing the requirement of State Council, Tianjin Municipal Party Committee and municipal government to promote the function development, start to construct the second peninsula, speed up the transformation and upgrade to free trade port area, and make contribution to promote the development and opening up of Binhai New Area.
