Founded in August 2000, BIOTECH Pharmaceutical Co, Ltd is a Sino-Cuban high and new-tech biomedical joint venture. It is specialized in the professional research and development of humanized monoclonal antibodies and vaccines for malignant tumors.
Initially registered in Huairou District of Beijing, our company finally decided to invest and construct plants in BDA in 2003. We had ample reasons to justify our choice. Firstly, here is a national class economic & technological development zone where the brand and image of a dwelling enterprise may be elevated; secondly, a series of preferential policies are offered to benefit the development of an enterprise; thirdly, a better construction of basic facilities at BDA is of an utmost importance to a pharmaceutical manufacturer; lastly, BDA has an excellent geographic location, a convenient transportation and a comfortable life to help the enterprises attract talents.
Our choice of relocating to BDA has turned out right. At BDA we started to build the Bio-engineering Research Institute, Mid-term Trial Center and a large-scale production line. Within several years since then, our staff has grown from a dozen to over 200 in number. Under the caretaking service environment, our corporate development has been quite smooth. We have designed and constructed autonomously the first domestic full-automatic large-scale production line of mammal cell culture. Also the first domestic technology of antibody humanization with the world level has been acquired. The first humanized monoclonal antibody nimotuumab was successfully marketed in April 2008. The sales revenue of 2009 is forecast at 180 million yuan.
On Chinese Lunar New Year, leaders from Bureau of Human Labor & Social Security brought us flowers and well-prepared gifts and made us feel at home. In May 2009, BIOTECH won the Special Fund for Scientific & Technological Innovation established by BDA’s Science & Technology Office, which strongly supports the company's research projects; BDA Bureau of Industry Promotion vigorously provides supports and motivational policy for enterprises to facilitate the rapid development of high-tech industries; BDA Bureau of Development & Reforms came to BIOTECH and conducted an on-site study of enterprise technology needs, providing assistances and so on. Like fish and water, residing in BDA for 6 years, BIOTECH’s every step of development is indispensable to the concerns and supports from BDA. BIOTECH is willing to contribute our share of strength to the development of BDA.
I am a Cuban from a small town not far from Havana. I am honored to receive the "2008 Year of Chinese government 'Friendship Award'", which is the highest honor awarded by Chinese government to foreign experts who made prominent contributions, as well as means the acceptance for Cuban experts working in BIOTECH and the approval to BIOTECH’s persisting independent innovation. For three years, I and my wife have been working and living in BDA. Both convenient transportation and shopping and complete supporting measures for living facilities have given us a deep impression. More importantly, although BDA is a region with a large cluster of multinational corporations, it’s very quiet with many beautiful parks. I think I enjoy my life in BDA. I have been to many industrial parks in other countries and they are diversified with their own characteristics, but I have to say that the infrastructure and service environment provided by BDA are extremely outstanding. I think the biggest advantage of BDA is that BDA has really helped the enterprises to develop, which is very worthy of praise. The speed of BDA’s development in recent three years is indeed surprising. There are 10 Cuban experts in BIOTECH, and all of them like here. Here is our second hometown.
Now, BIOTECH is currently enjoying a sound development, and the second-phase construction is going to launch, including new R & D center, experimental center and industrial base. Upholding our business philosophy – “Enterprising, Dedication, Creativity and Excellence”, BIOTECH will improve independent innovation capacity unceasingly, reduce disease suffering and make contribution to enhancing human health.
