Electronic industry of Liangjiang New Area maintains steady growth

As an important base of the electronic information industry in Chongqing, Liangjiang New Area insists on cluster development, and creates an industrial cluster around industrial chains. Forming five electronic information industry frames initially, the area is becoming an essential national electronic information industry base.
For the laptop industrial cluster, laptop brands such as Acer and Toshiba and laptop foundries like Compal and Wistron have all settled in the new area. Liangjiang New Area now has a capacity to produce 40 million laptops each year. From January to April in 2014, the production of laptops was more than seven million.
For the monitor industrial cluster, a whole industrial chain covering large, medium and small display equipment is emerging along with companies producing optical films, backlights, light guide plates, polaroids and electronic material.
In addition, some core electronic material industrial companies including Austria Technologie & Systemtechnik and Shanghai AST have settled in the new area.
In the LED new light source industrial cluster, Shanghai AST has put into production a 4-inch sapphire substrate material project. More companies in the LED chain are expected to settle in Liangjiang.
Big data and the cloud computing industry are taking shape in Liangjiang New Area. A cloud computing supporting service center of 380,000 square meters has been established. Pacnet Business Solutions, China Unicom, China Mobile and China Telecom have entered into the center.
At present, Liangjiang New Area has set the two platforms of Cuntan bonded port and Liangjiang Shuitu Industrial Park as carriers to develop the electronic industry. The new area will encourage industries such as the laptop industry, electro-optics display industry, and LED new light source industry to develop together.
The bonded port is an important base of the laptop industrial cluster, making up a global base of laptop production in Chongqing with Xiyong. The port produced more than 21 million laptops in 2013. With a producing speed of 60,000 laptops a day and 2,500 laptops an hour, the port has achieved a value of gross output of 58.3 billion yuan. Liangjiang’s water and soil high-tech park emphasizes electro-optics display, LED new light sources, and the big data and cloud computing industry.
