Liangjiang develops emerging industry to promote sustainable growth

As China's first national inland new district, Chongqing's Liangjiang New Area has become aregion indicative of promoting strategic emerging industries.
On June 15, Liangjiang launched a large scaled industry fund of 20 billion yuan ($3.22 billion) to support emerging industries such as the robot, shipping and new energy automobile industry.
As the only inland municipality in China,Chongqing has set aside an emerging industry fund of 80 billion yuan.
Liangjiang New Area is an emerging industrial district in Chongqing and is also one of China's most famous investment destinations, after the Shanghai Pudong New District and Tianjin Binhai New District.
In the last five years, Liangjiang's average annual Gross Domestic Product (GDP) growth has been 19.41 percent, making it one of the fastest growing areas in China.
It has also become one of China's largest automobile production areas. World famous automobile enterprises, such as Ford Motor Co, Hyundai Motor Co and General Motors, have entered Liangjiang.
In 2014, Liangjiang's annual car production exceeded 1.8 million units, meaning that one in every 10 cars manufactured in China comes from Chongqing.
Aside from the automobile and electronic information industries, Liangjianghas started to develop emerging industries and promote sustainable economic growth.
In June, Kawasaki Heavy Industries Ltd from Japan and Kuka Robot Group from Germany set up branches in Liangjiang. Other world famous companies such as Asea Brown Boveri Ltd are also seeking opportunities in the new area.
The world's largest glass substrate production company, Corning Incorporated, will also sign an investment contract with Liangjiang New Area to construct an industrial cluster.
?The cluster will include the production of glass substrate, polarizer and display devices. Corning's new branch production base in Liangjiang is expected to be put into operation next year.
In the field of general aviation, Liangjiang New Area has introduced machine manufacturing projects from two global aircraft tycoons: Pilatus in Switzerland and Enstrom in US. In the aviation industrial park, the matched flight institute is only kilometers away from sales hall, making it possible to buy an airplane immediately with a license.
In the domain of cloud computing and big data, Liangjiang New Area has attracted large quantities of enterprises concerning cloud computing, core technology and applied technology of big data. Tencent, one of the top ten incomers of global digital media, has invested 3 billion to the very first cloud computing data center in central western regions. This project started on June 10.
Chongqing EVAHEART Medical Apparatus and Instruments Co ltd, joint venture of HI-LEX of Japan and Chongqing Lilong Group, has invested 130 million yuan to the project of EVAHEART assisted mechanical heart in Shuitu Hi-tech Park, Liang Jiang New Area.
The annual value of production is projected to reach more than 3 billion yuan when it achieving the production targets. The project will fill in the gap of Chinese mechanical heart scientific research and promote the forge of Medicine Valley in Liang Jiang New Area.
Located at the tie point of One Belt and One Road and the "Y" formed pathway of Yangzte River Economic Zone and China-Burma Economic Zone, Chongqing has its unique geographical advantages.
As a regional demonstration to promote inland opening up, Liang Jiang New Area is approaching the world by relying on Jiangbei International Airport, Guoyuan Harbor, LiangluCuntan Port and Chongqing-Xinjiang-Europe International Railway, emphasizing the construction of shipping center of the upper reaches of Yangtze River, establishing the general three-dimensional traffic system that integrating railway, highway, shipping and air transport, highlighting smooth, coherence and connectivity.
In the past five years, Liangjiang New Area attracted international advanced production factors, and participated in the international division of labor. The number of companies which belong to Top 500 Global Companies increased from 54 to 129. The import and export volume exceeded 30 billion yuan, with an annual increase of more than 70 percent. Chongqing has become a key area for international investors.
