Underground water is unsafe

The shallow layer groundwater in China was heavily polluted in recent years from various pollution sources, Beijing News reported.

據《新京報》報道，近年來，在多種污染源作用下，我國淺層地下水污染嚴重。

Groundwater quality surveillance was conducted in 200 cities in China in 2011, and 55% of those monitoring spots showed bad or even worse water quality, according to an official survey. In several regions, reports about cancer cases and cattle and sheep's infertility caused by underground water pollution soared.

官方調查顯示，2011年，全國200個城市開展了地下水質監測，其中"較差—極差"水質監測點比例為55%。此前，地下水污染導致癌癥高發甚至牛羊絕育的報道，在諸多地區出現。

[污染控制投資不夠]

?China's economy has developed rapidly over recent years, but investment into pollution control has not kept pace. Considering the fast pace of China's economic development, investment into pollution control should account for more than 2% of GDP, according to Wang Canfa, a professor at the China University of Political Science and Law.

中國政法大學教授王燦發說，我們國家的經濟發展迅速，但是治理污染的投資卻跟不上。像我們這么快的經濟發展速度，控制污染方面的投入應當占到GDP的2%以上。
