The most Chinese church:

Hongde Church 鴻德堂

This is the only church in China that boasts Chinese characteristics. It is an icon on Duolun Road in Hongkou district.

The Christian church was built in the 1920s with money from the Presbyterian Church in the United States. It was built in memory of a missionary who worked in the church's printing house on Duolun Road for nearly three decades.

Complying with the upsurge of nationalism of the time, the church was designed to resemble a traditional Chinese palace with black bricks covering the outer walls and red cylinders standing at the front.
