Traffic officer caught taking bribe

Trending across China

A traffic police officer has been caught by an undercover reporter extorting bribe from a driver named Sonam Palgyal, who wanted his driving license that the officer had seized back, Xining Television Station reported on Saturday.

The license, which was confiscated after a traffic accident a month ago, was seized after the policeman claimed that Palgyal was using a fake license and demanded documents.

However, when Palgyal accompanied by the reporter went to the policeman a month later on June 6, he was not asked to produce any documents but only the identification card, which the police had already checked at the accident site a month ago.

As Palgyal was not carrying the ID card the policeman refused to give back his license, but when Palgyal gave the policeman 200 yuan, the officer replied "it's done" and returned the licence.
