On August 8, the inauguration of the National Fitness Day highlighted the first anniversary of the Beijing Olympics.

Addressing the ceremony, Beijing Mayor Guo Jinlong called on all Beijing residents to join the national fitness program in a bid to make more contributions to the building of "People's Beijing, Scientific Beijing and Green Beijing".

In the morning, the Olympic area in Beijing also witnessed more than 34,000 people from all walks of life performing Taijiquan, or martial arts shadow boxing, which set a Guinness world record for the largest martial arts exercise.

A grand photo exhibition entitled "The Exceptional Gala -- Beijing 2008 Olympics and Paralympics" was also held here on Saturday.

The gallery, located in the Olympic Park in Beijing, features more than 800 pictures. The exhibition will run till Sept. 17.

In the evening’s Super Cup Game, Coppa Italia champions Lazio sank Serie A winner Inter Milan 2-1 by two quickfire goals within four minutes to take the Italian Super Cup at a nearly full-packed Bird's Nest, responding to the “National Fitness Day”.
