DPRK says to lift border ban: Seoul TV

SEOUL: The Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) on Thursday informed Republic of Korea (ROK) that it would lift from Friday restrictions on land crossings of their common border first imposed eight months ago, Seoul's YTN television reported.

The cable news channel quoted a ROK government source as saying that Pyongyang has informed Seoul of the decision to lift the restrictions, first imposed on December 1, 2008.

The report came a day before a high-ranking DPRK delegation is due to fly to Seoul to mourn the death of former ROK President Kim Dae-jung.
