BRAZIL'S PRESIDENT LUIZ INACIO LULA DA SILVA "All those people who thought we had no ability to govern this country will now learn that we can host the Olympics." "There is a lot of work ahead of us and we will start working early." "The Brazilian people are good, generous and the country deserves it." "The world has recognized that the time has come for Brazil." DILMA ROUSSEFF, LULA'S CHIEF OF STAFF AND HIS PREFERRED CANDIDATE FOR THE PRESIDENCY IN OCTOBER 2010 ELECTIONS "It's very emotional, I am crying until now. It's a well-deserved victory for the Brazilian people and the people of Rio de Janeiro. We needed and wanted this victory because of the charm of Rio de Janeiro, which is a world-class capital. If you put the two events together, the amount of investment that will have to be done, particularly on the infrastructure side, is significant.
