President sends condolences to Swedish king over truck attack
BEIJING - Chinese President Xi Jinping on Saturday sent a message of condolences to Swedish King Carl XVI Gustaf in the wake of Friday's deadly truck attack in Stockholm.
In the message, Xi strongly condemned the violent attack, extending his profound condolences to the innocent victims while expressing his sincere sympathy for the injured and families of the victims.
Xi said China is ready to enhance cooperation with Sweden and the international community, and make positive efforts to maintain security and stability in the two countries and the world.
On Friday, a truck ploughed into crowds on a busy shopping street before crashing into a department store in central Stockholm, killing at least four people while wounding many others in what was suspected to be a terrorist attack.
