BEIJING -- The Alumni Association of the Huangpu (Whampoa) Military Academy held a tea party in Beijing Monday to celebrate the upcoming Spring Festival.

Extending Chinese New Year's greetings to Huangpu alumni and their relatives at home and abroad, Lin Shangyuan, head of the alumni association, called on them to make new contributions to promote the peaceful development of cross-Strait relations and to achieve the complete reunification of the motherland.

Established in 1984, the Alumni Association of the Huangpu Military Academy is a patriotic organization. The Huangpu Military Academy opened in southern China's Guangzhou in 1924.
