China has always been a builder of world peace, a contributor to global development and a defender of international order, and the Chinese military will continue to be a force for world peace, according to a white paper on China's involvement in United Nations' peacekeeping operations issued on Friday.

This year marks the 30th anniversary of China's armed forces participating in UN peacekeeping missions. The white paper was published by the State Council Information Office, and is the first of its kind.

Over the last three decades, China has sent 40,000 peacekeepers to 25 missions around the world. These missions consist of supervising ceasefires, stabilizing regional situations, protecting civilians and assets and providing logistical and infrastructure support.

"They have faithfully performed their duties and made a positive contribution to world peace and common development. They have stood fast as a disciplined force for peace and justice," the paper said.

The white paper said the reasons why China participates in these missions are because the pursuit of peace is in the genes of the Chinese nation, and the Chinese people care about the well-being of humanity.

China can also honor its duties as a major country and a responsible member of the international community by making efforts to bring peace and happiness to people in mission areas.

In the future, China will continue to champion the vision of global governance based on extensive consultation, joint contribution and shared benefits. It will stay committed to settling disputes through peaceful means, building stronger peacekeeping partnerships and pursuing a form of shared security that is comprehensive, cooperative and sustainable in nature.
