Grand gala marks 30 years of Pudong
A gala was held at Shanghai Grand Theater on Thursday to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the development and opening-up of the city's Pudong New Area.
Organized by the Shanghai Municipal Committee of the Communist Party of China, the city's government and China Central Television, the event featured performances including dances and music, showcasing the development of the area and its achievements.
The area's history in the past three decades was visualized and presented to the audience through archived footage of crucial events such as the construction of Lujiazui financial zone, the launch of the Shanghai Stock Exchange and the development of Yangshan port.
The gala also paid respects to people who have contributed to the growth of the area, such as construction workers, through acrobatics.
A performance held by artists specialized in Shanghai Opera, Pingtan originated from Jiangsu province, Yue Opera from Zhejiang province, and Huangmei Opera from Anhui province, revealed the bright future of the integrated development of the Yangtze River Delta.
Moreover, 30 people aged 30 in professions ranging from policemen, entrepreneurs, to community workers, shared their stories in Pudong and extended their best wishes to the area.
