Flag-raising ceremonies kick off first school day in Hong Kong

All primary and secondary schools across Hong Kong held flag-raising ceremonies on Monday, the first school day in the new year. According to the Education Bureau, all schools are required to raise the national flag every school day and major commemorative dates, starting Jan 1.
