Some in the United States claim Argentina is facing risks in its cooperation with China on the Atucha III nuclear power plant and have repeatedly tried to interfere in the project, Argentine media reported.

This is how Washington is trying to sabotage China-Argentina cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative framework, an ugly show of its nature of sacrificing the interests of the international community for its private interests.

As the US intensifies its containment policy against China, it is trying to project China's cooperation with other countries through the Belt and Road Initiative as a "thorn in the flesh". It is making absurd claims that the initiative has created debt traps, damaged the environment of relevant countries and caused corruptions, while also portraying it as a way for China to "control" other countries.

However, the truth is the exact opposite. The initiative has brought in huge investments via the thousands of cooperation projects in the countries concerned, creating 420,000 jobs and lifting tens of millions of people out of poverty.

The US should not overestimate its ability to hide the facts nor underestimate the abilities of other countries to make correct judgments. China's efforts to promote international cooperation and help the development of relevant countries through the Belt and Road Initiative have been widely endorsed. The irresponsible remarks made by the US to prevent other countries from cooperating with China have actually aroused extensive distaste.

A senior Pakistani official said China's sharing of its successful experience with developing countries has filled their gaps in infrastructure funding, industrial technology, and contributed to the building of a community with a shared future for mankind.

While smearing and discrediting the Belt and Road Initiative, the US has also blackmailed other countries, making promises but rarely delivering on them. The Partnership for Global Infrastructure and Investment the US has promised to launch involves $600 billion, but it is considered a "digit game" with no timeline or launch date.

US President Joe Biden says the "Build Back Better World" partnership will meet developing countries' infrastructure needs better than China's Belt and Road Initiative, but so far little money has been spent on such projects. The international community looks for projects that can really benefit people, rather than "empty talk". The US' willful smearing of China only exposes its selfish and hegemonic nature.
