The 2025 China Internet Civilization Conference is scheduled to take place in Hefei, Anhui province, from June 10 to 11, officials announced on Wednesday.

Themed "Gathering Positive Energy on the Internet and Leading New Trends of the Era," the event aims to promote a healthier and more responsible online environment, according to Yang Jianwen, deputy director of the Office of the Central Cyberspace Affairs Commission. He spoke at a news briefing organized by the State Council Information Office in Beijing.

The conference is co-hosted by the Office of the Central Cyberspace Affairs Commission and the Anhui provincial government. It will feature an opening ceremony, a main forum, and 14 sub-forums, Yang said.

Participants at the main forum will include government officials, scholars, business leaders, internet influencers and youth representatives, who will deliver keynote speeches on internet governance and digital development.

Topics of the 14 sub-forums will include online rumor debunking, artificial intelligence, corporate social responsibility in the internet sector, and personal information protection.

Each sub-forum is expected to release at least one major outcome, with a total of nearly 30 achievements projected this year, according to Zhao Hui, secretary-general of the China Federation of Internet Societies.

"For instance, the sub-forum on corporate social responsibility will unveil the 2025 assessment report on internet platform enterprises and the China internet integrity development report," Zhao said.

Another sub-forum will focus on enhancing digital literacy and skills across the population, said Qian Sanxiong, head of the Publicity Department of the Communist Party of China Anhui Provincial Committee.

Qian added that three provinces and Shanghai in the Yangtze River Delta, along with six provinces in Central China, will sign a cooperation agreement during the conference. The pact will focus on promoting digital life, digital work, and digital innovation.
