Fujian targets high-quality growth through industry
Fujian province will firmly anchor its development in the real economy and the private sector to spearhead high-quality growth, Zhou Zuyi, secretary of the Communist Party of China Fujian Provincial Committee, said during the ongoing session of the 14th National People's Congress in Beijing.
Speaking at an open-media deliberation of the Fujian delegation on Friday, Zhou said Fujian's economy is predominantly based on the real sector, providing the province with a strong foundation and advantages to build a modern industrial system.
"Fujian must resolutely shoulder the responsibility of a major economic province," Zhou said. "We will strive to take the lead and ensure that the progress of Fujian's real economy better serves the overall development of the nation."
For the 15th Five-Year Plan (2026-30) period, Zhou said the province will prioritize intelligent, green and integrated development. Fujian aims to achieve a comprehensive leap in its industrial ecosystem by promoting deeper integration of scientific and industrial innovation.
The province will focus on enterprises as the primary drivers and deeply implement a strategy to strengthen the private economy. The effort includes upholding and developing the "Jinjiang Experience" while deepening comprehensive reforms to improve the development environment for the private sector.
"We will fully implement the Private Economy Promotion Law and provincial regulations, promote the entrepreneurial spirit, and launch a succession plan for the next generation of private entrepreneurs," he said, highlighting the goal of accelerating the construction of a strong private economy province.
Zhou added that Fujian will coordinate the upgrading of traditional industries, the cultivation of emerging sectors and the forward-looking layout of future industries.
