Award-winning Xia Yu, known for his role in In the Heat of the Sun, met Yuan Quan while they were studying at the Central Academy of Drama. Their good looks and campus romance were highly praised by the public and their on- and off-screen romance were much covered by the media. The relationship broke off for a short while when Xia Yu was rumored to be living with fellow actress Gao Yuanyuan when the two were both participating in the play Scandal. Xia eventually married Yuan in Aug 30, 2009.
