Nanming district is one of the central districts of Guiyang city, the capital of Guizhou province. It is the seat of the provincial party committee and the provincial military command. The district has a total area of 209.34 square kilometers and jurisdiction over four townships and 20 community service centers. (Guizhou Shuanglong Airport Economic Zone was delegated in 2014 to govern Xiaobi township, Longdong community, Jianlong community, Luoli and Baiyang counties in Yongle township, and Yunguan and Mutou counties in Yunguan township of Nanming district, spanning an area of 103 square kilometers). It has a permanent resident's population of 907,700 who has lived in the district for over six months and a household registered population of 624,000. The average altitude of the whole district is 1,260 meters, and the annual average sunshine is 1,354 hours, making it one of the lowest ultraviolet radiation cities in the world. The annual average temperature around the region is about 18 C, of which the average summer temperature is about 24 C, and the annual average rainfall is 1,200 mm. The air is fresh and full of negative oxygen ions, and the number of days with good air quality in a year reaches 95 percent of the total. It is an urban area suitable for gathering, businesses and living.
Nanming district is located in a hub of the western region leading to "Liang Guang", namely Guangdong and Guangxi provinces, and to the eastern coast and marine outlets. A comprehensive transportation network incorporating interconnected air lines, railways and highways make the export from the region smooth and unblocked. The 4E-class modern airport in its jurisdiction, Guiyang Longdongbao Airport, has opened more than 60 routes connecting domestic and overseas and boasts an annual passenger throughput of up to 15 million. The three home railway stations, namely Guiyang Railway Station, Guiyang South Railway Station and Guiyang East Railway Station, conjunct the major railways such as the Hunan-Guizhou line, the Sichuan-Guizhou line, the Guizhou-Guangxi line, the Guiyang-Kunming trunk line and the Guiyang-Guangzhou high-speed railway. Main routes through the region include the Guiyang Ring-road Expressway, high-grade highways from Guiyang to Huangguoshu Waterfall, Zunyi, Xinzhai, Bijie, as well as the Guiyang-Guangzhou and Xiamen-Chengdu expressways.
