The Binhu district covers 592.7 square kilometers and has a population of 462,500. It lies next to Taihu Lake and has a lovely landscape and many cultural traditions. It has a thriving economy and is one of eight typical developmental counties in the province.

Binhu is considered the cradle of Wu culture as well as modern industry and commerce, as well as various other cultures, such as Buddhism and its screens.

It is also a wonderful tourist area, with such attractions as the Lingshan Scenic Region, Yuantou Isle, the beauty of Taihu Lake, the Plum Garden with fragrant flowers that resemble a field of snow, Lihu Lake where the beauty Xishi went boating, and CCTV's Film and TV Base, including Tang (Dynasty) Town, Three Kingdoms Town and Water Margin Town.

Binhu is also the dominant part of Wuxi and, in recent years, has been at the center of transformation, science and technology, ecological development, urban-rural integration, and urban modernization.

It pushes the development of science and technology, talent, industry, culture, the ecology and livelihoods and has developed a modern system of emerging industries, advanced manufacturing, and service industries.
