Getting there: Norden is located just 30 minutes by car from Gannan Xiahe Airport, though if you're arriving at Lanzhou Zhongchuan Airport, the trip will take about 4.5 hours. The staff at Norden are able to arrange for two-way transfers from both airports.

When to go: Norden is only open from May to October. The best time to visit the camp would be from mid-June to early September when the temperatures are comfortable. Occasional rainfall is expected during May and early August. Expect snowfall in October.

Essentials: Regardless of the time of year, be sure to slap on some sunscreen as the sun's rays in this part of the world can get really intense. It is also advisable to bring along warm clothing as it can get rather chilly in the night.
