TEHRAN - An IranAir Boeing-727 passenger plane landed in a Tehran airport on Tuesday without its front wheels opening, but there was no casualties, Iran's Mehr news agency reported.

The plane which was flying with 94 passengers and 19 crew members from Moscow to Tehran and was to land in Iran's Imam Khomeini airport at 15:20 local time (1150 GMT), made an emergency landing in Tehran's Mehrabad airport at 16:00 local time (1230 GMT) , said the report.

The plane faced a technical problem and its front wheels did not open, so it landed with the wheels closed, according to Mehr.

IranAir Public Relations manager Shahrokh Noushabadi told Mehr that the pilot skilfully landed the plane while its front wheels faced a technical problem and did not open.

Fortunately, nobody was hurt, Noushabadi said, adding that the investigations over the incident have started. ?

In January, a Boeing-727, belonging to the state-owned IranAir airlines crashed near a village some 15 km from northwestern city of Urmieh and 78 people were killed.

Iran has seen several air disasters, involving both civil and military use aircraft, in recent years.

Experts said the US-imposed sanctions against Iran, which prevented its allies from selling aircraft or aircraft parts to the country, have undermined safety standards within Iran's civil and military aviation fleet and are increasing the likelihood of more air disasters.
