China's national political advisory body holds leadership meeting
BEIJING -- The 14th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), the country's national political advisory body, held its 49th Chairperson's Council meeting on Friday.
Wang Huning, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and chairman of the CPPCC National Committee, presided over the meeting and delivered remarks.
Wang urged efforts to advance the regular study, research and training of the Party's new theories, conduct in-depth investigations and consultations with a focus on major issues concerning economic and social development, build consensus and pool support, wisdom and strength to ensure a good start to the 15th Five-Year Plan (2026-30).
Efforts should be made to guide all CPPCC members to focus on major and difficult issues of public concern, offer suggestions that benefit the people and take concrete actions to improve their well-being, Wang said.
Wang called for comments and suggestions based on in-depth research focusing on key issues related to efforts to build the Xiong'an New Area in North China's Hebei province into an innovation hub in the new era, and a model of promoting high-quality development.
The meeting deliberated and approved a document regarding the handling of crucial proposals put forward by political advisors at the recently concluded annual session of the CPPCC National Committee.
